Creating Low-Cost Vault Using Security Access Doors

We always want extra security, especially with crucial things like money, jewelry, and other personal belongings. However, buying a vault for your establishment or home can be on the expensive side. If you don't have enough budget capacity to purchase a secured vault, you don't have to worry! You can try different alternatives that will still provide you with the same security, and this is the security access doors.

What are Security Access Doors?

Security access doors are access doors made from detention grade materials that can be prepped for all types of deadlocks. This product is often applied in any wall installation to prevent unauthorized entry to particular areas requiring enhanced security. There are different types of security access doors, and this is based on their materials and security level.

  • Medium-Security Access Doors- is a non-rated flush access door made with thicker steel, a continuous piano hinge, and a key-operated cylinder cam latch. This access door is manufactured to ensure medium-security wherever it may be required. This security panel also comes with four gauges galvanneal steel, continuous piano hinge, key-operated cylinder cam latch, and is finished with a high-quality white powder coat.

  • High-Security Access Doors- This door is constructed with detention-grade materials and can be prepped for all types of deadlocks. It comprises a ten gauge cold rolled steel plate, an angle frame, heavy-duty butt hinges, 13 gauge cold rolled steel, a high-quality white powder coat, and amortized deadbolt and cylinder with key. Suppose you want the most heavy-duty security access panel. It also offers seven gauges, providing solid construction and lock options for many detention and security building applications.

  • Fire-rated Security Doors- is constructed with a 1" flange for an easy flush installation on any surface. In addition, the door is also composed of a 14 gauge cold rolled steel frame, 16 gauge galvanneal steel door, and an inside panel release, all included on all slam latch fire doors.

You can choose any security access options that will be well-suited for your budget and standards.

How to Install Your Security Access Doors

Installing security access doors might be more complex than ordinary access panels. This may require assistance from a professional, or if you're pretty handy with construction tools, then this may be an easy task for you.

Step #1 Constructing the Box

Constructing the inside area of your DIY'ed wall can be the most challenging task. Ensure you have enough space in the wall to achieve the accurate vault measurements you want. You can use any material in making this space but make sure that it will perform well and last long.

Step #2 Installing the Metal Frame

You can start marking the point where you're installing the metal frame. Using a ruler, draw the areas with a pencil, and make sure you keep the accurate measurements of your purchased security access door. Start installing the frames based on your markings with a power screw. Make sure you also place the screws at the back of the wall for extra strength.

Step #3 Installing the Door

The door also comes with a metal frame packed with a continuous piano hinge door. Screw-in the door with a power drill on the front and the inner corners of the frame. Screwing all the sides is vital for your structure to grip the wall entirely. Once done, test the quality of the door and your installation by opening and closing it. In addition, don't forget to try your security access door's lock and key mechanism.

Step #4 Paint to Finish

If you want your new vault to blend seamlessly with the wall, you can paint this with a color that matches your wall. This will allow your access door not to be an eyesore, especially if you need it to be more aesthetically pleasing or more secretive.

Exploring different budget-friendly options out on the market is not a bad idea, primarily if it functions similarly to the original options. But you always have to make sure that everything is done correctly with the guidance of a licensed professional.
