If you’re moving to a new house, for the first, or even second or third time, you likely know just how stressful the process can be.

Here are a few tips and tricks on how to move to a new house properly.
 

• Make sure your new house is washed and cleaned thoroughly by an experienced cleaning company. Do this the right way before moving in.  This means that anything from the hardwood floors, to the granite tops in your kitchen must be scrubbed down properly, and that everything else (living room, bedrooms, etc.) is completely tidy, and trim.
• Be certain, that any essential utilities are up-and-running so your appliances are plug and play when you arrive with the truck. This one, may seem, like a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised, how many people wait, for far too long, before getting their phone or gas lines up, properly. Imagine arriving at your new house with a loaded moving truck and having no lights! Schedule yourself a reminder for this one, or, better yet, just pick up the phone.
• Paint any areas of the house that need to be painted before moving in.  This part of the ‘moving to’ process, can be really laborious, but alas, it’s a necessary step.  You can always try to do the entire task by yourself, or with some friends and family.  If, however, you’d rather just get the job done quickly, hire a professional painting company, and they can do all the work, for you.
• Examine and inventory your possessions once you’ve arrived to your new home.  This, while seeming obvious, is an often-overlooked task and, should something be missing or damaged, there is likely a time limit for making insurance claims.  Keeping a detailed packing list also helps in inventorying your possessions.
