How To Wow Your Clients as a Realtor
Impressing your real estate clients is important for several reasons. In the first place, they may want to sell their home in the future, and you want them to call you when they are ready to list it. In the second place, word-of-mouth is one of the most important ways you find new clients, so you want them to say nice things about you to their family and friends. Confidence, trust, and effective communication are all important, but here are some things you can do to take customer service to the next level.
Offer Communication Options
One of the ways to offer a better customer experience right off the bat is to provide options for your clients to get in touch with you and to honor their communication preferences. Some people like to talk on the telephone, while others prefer email. Some like text messages while others may still use a landline as their primary means of communication, making texting impractical. Do not be judgmental about your clients' communication preferences but tailor your communications for what works best for them. If you can't get a hold of them, or vice versa, the whole process becomes much more difficult than it needs to be.
Build Strong Relationships
Everyone appreciates feeling seen and known. If you pay attention to your clients' needs, wants, problems, and life experiences, it shows that you care about them as people and are personally as well as professionally invested in their success. You should find out as much about them as you can, not only what they are looking for in a house but their jobs and family lives. However, it is important to observe reasonable boundaries and try not to get too personal or involved, or you could alienate the clients you are trying to establish a relationship with.
Help Clients Connect to the Community
If your clients are moving from somewhere far away, they may not be familiar with the area. Making new friends and learning where to turn for services can be frustrating and bewildering. Presumably, you have been established in the community for a while, which means you can help by introducing them to local social groups that might interest them, whether online or face to face, and by referring them to businesses that you know and trust.
Remember Significant Events
If you remember your clients, they are more likely to remember you. When they experience a major event, try to acknowledge it in a thoughtful way. A card for a new baby, anniversary, or birthday is nice, but if you can send a small, meaningful gift, it is even better.
Give Clients Your Business
Your clients have already given you their business; if you get the opportunity, you should return the favor. As you got to know them and established a relationship, you probably learned a lot about what they do for a living. Next time you are in need of the goods or services they provide, turn to them first. This helps to continue a relationship that you worked hard to build and tells your clients that you want the relationship to continue even after the sale is over. Furthermore, because the trust you have established with your clients is a two-way street, you can feel confident that you are receiving a good deal.
Provide Help With Moving
You don't necessarily have to become personally involved in the process, but moving is very stressful, so if there is a way you can make it a little easier, such as by hiring a cleaning crew or a professional organizer, it can make a big difference that your clients are likely to appreciate.
Welcome Them Home
Clients appreciate some token that commemorates all the hard work it took to get to closing and moving in. A basket of moving essentials, tickets to local attractions, or just a bottle of champagne with which to celebrate can all make a positive impression.
Your real estate clients are very important people. The way you treat them should reflect that.
